unable to ship to.
History & Provenance: Part of a collection that includes ’61 Petrus (WA100), ’61 Haut Brion (WA100), ’61 Chateau Margaux, ’61 Leoville Las Cases, ’55 Chateau Latour (WA94) & 1959 Chateau Mouton (WA100). All bottles were impeccably stored in a Manhattan storage facility and from one single collector whose estate was recently up for sale.
Provenance could not be better! The entire lot was purchased from Sherry Lehman in NYC back in 1967and placed into a nearby cellar facility. All the wines were lay downed and not handled till their transport to our temperature controlled facility. These wines never exchanged hands in either the auction or re-sale markets!
*We have absolute confidence in the condition of this cellar, but I must add the usual caveat emptor for vintage wines, with absolutely no refunds and no refunds.
Label: Pristine front label and retailer necker. Back import label is 65% discolored (Not from leaking bottle.)
Bottle Fill: Mid-Shoulder
Capsule Condition: Pristine.
Cork Condition: No protrusion.
“I am always blown away by the 1959 Mouton, one of the greatest Moutons made in the last thirty-five years. Every time I have this wine it is undeniable that Mouton made a richer, more persuasive wine in 1959 than in 1961. This mammoth, full-bodied Mouton-Rothschild should continue to evolve for another 20-30 years. It may well be a 100-year wine! Last tasted 3/97”. – Robert Parker, Wine Advocate 100 Points.
Cellar Tracker 99 Point Tasting Note: (Tasted 12/13): Rich, delicious full-bodied black cherry fruit, smokey flavors, great depth and roundness, very California-like in style, probably best single bottle of wine that I’ve ever drank to date, best wine of evening in line up including 1961 Latour and 1949 Leoville-las-cases
Pair with roasted leg of lamb.
